Research Riders MeetingResearch Riders Meeting October 14, 2004 Meeting called to order by President Milton James. We greeted visiting guest, Tony Hendrix. He was stopping by to “check us out”. Pres. James read the minutes of the last meeting. Ken Irvin made the motion to accept them as read, the second was by David Moczygemba and it passed unanimously. The Treasurer’s report was delivered by Treasurer Ken Irvin. We showed a balance of $145 with an additional $5 to be added soon. Old Business included a discussion of the SWRI Car, Truck and Motorcycle Show. It will be November 12, with the entry deadline of October 28. The cars and trucks will be in one category and the motorcycles will be in another. Of the meeting attendees, there were two members interested in entering (Milton and Ken). It is a fund raiser for the RRA. Joe Stateson discussed coming up with an emblem or patch, etc. for the group. After much discussion, it was decided that all members who have ideas for this area will bring their ideas to the next meeting and a decision can be made at that time. Pres. James noted that if we agree on a patch or T-shirt, etc. that the RRA may pay up to ˝ of the cost—but this is not guaranteed and must be submitted for RRA approval. It was also decided that the charter members would have the number “28” added to their patches to designate the charter member status. New Business included discussion of Joe Stateson’s off campus webpage: Researchriders.org He has registered the name for $12. He’s added Riders of the Week and various stories and items of interest to the Research Riders Group. Mark Griffin made the motion for the group to reimburse Joe for the $12 cost of registering the website. The motion was seconded by John Duck and carried unanimously. Pres. James then read the membership breakdown across the different divisions. Pres. James reported on the injuries of Scott Meckel and Jordan Baker. Pres. James also mentioned the Phantom’s Poker Run on October 30. It will start at Hills and Dales and end at Rueben’s. It will include a 50/50 drawing, auction and barbeque plate sale. It will benefit the Salvation Army Angel Tree. For information, call Raymond Lemes, 210-543-0127. Rides being researched at this time include: Road Captain David Moczygemba’s planned ride through the Lost Maples area. Possible sights that may be included are the Lone Star Motorcycle Museum and the Stonehenge area. President James is looking in to a ride set for early spring out of Boerne. Joe Stateson asked if we could invite a guest speaker, such as a representative of the Texas Motorcycle Rights Association (TMRA). It was agreed that it would be a good and even welcome idea. Don Moravits made the motion to adjourn, seconded by Ken Irvin and unanimously passed. President James adjourned the meeting.
